Graduating  Class  of  Summer  1954  Elects  Twelve
Ephebians  to  Represent  Them  in  Honor  Society

The Ephebian society organized by Mr. Albert Shields 30 years ago was formed with the hopes of making high school students more civic minded.
High Honor
Being chosen as an Ephebian is one of the highest honors that can be attained by a Senior student. The aim of the society is to promote better citizenship and a sense of responsibility in high school students. After graduation it is the duty of the Ephebians to carry out the wishes of the Senior A class which they represent.
Qualifications Are High
To qualify for Ephebian candidacy you must be an A12 student, rank in the upper 20 per cent of the class, and possess an outstanding record of service and leadership.
One Ephebian for every 40 senior ayes is chosen, Students and members of the faculty vote for the candidates and both votes count equally in the system used here at North Hollywood.
This organization is not national, but exists only in the Los Angeles City School System.
"This year's Ephebians, in view of the fine records that they have attained here at North Hollywood, will surely attribute to keeping up the high standards of the society," stated Mr. John G. Fox, principal.
